Summary of Current Disaster Conditions in Vietnam
1. Storm damage potential: TROPICAL DEPRESSION - WATCH OUT.
2. Situation Analysis of the Tropical Depression: (According to daily bulletin issued by the Hydro-meteorological Service of Vietnam in Hanoi at 5:30’PM on October 07, 2005)
At 16:00PM October 07, 2005, the centre of the tropical depression No.8 was situated at around 16.1oN to 17.1ºN latitude and 108.7oE to 109.7ºE longitude, 130km far from the east of seashore Quang Nam – Da Nang.
The strongest wind force measured near the centre of the tropical depression was at Beaufort Scale 6, 7 (39 to 61 km per hour), with the wind gusting to above Beaufort Scale 7.
Forecast:
In the next 12 hours, the tropical depression will be moving to west and southwest direction, with a speed of 10km per hour.
Besides, in today’s noon, a flow of cool air is moving to frontier provinces, today and tonight, this flow will affect to the weather in Northern and Northern-Central Provinces
Due to the impact of the tropical depression and of the flow of cool air, in the Gulf of Tonkin, and in the coastal area of Central Part, there will be windy at with the wind force is at Beaufort Scale 6, 7, and wind gusting is to above Beaufort Scale 7. Sea is very rough. Provinces from Nghe An to Phu Yen will experience rain, heavy rain, and severe rain in the provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai. Beware of flash flood and landslides in the mountainous areas.
The weather in Northern Provinces is becoming cool.
