Monday, 5:30 AM, September 26, 2005 Summary of Current Disaster Conditions in Vietnam
1. Storm damage potential: STORM NO. 7 – IN EFFECT
2. Situation Analysis of the Tropical Depression: (According to daily bulletin issued by the Hydro-meteorological Service of Vietnam in Hanoi at 5:30AM on September 26, 2005)
At 4:00AM, September 26, 2005, the centre of Storm No.7 was situated at around 19.0oN latitude and 110.3oE longitude, in the east sea area of the Hainan Island (China), 500km far from coastal area of Haii Phong –Nghe An.
The wind force near to the storm centre is at Beaufort Scale 12 (118 to 133 km per hour), with the wind gusting is to above Beaufort Scale 12.
Forecast:
In the next 24 hour, Storm No.7 will be moving to west direction, with the speed of around 15km per hour and will be stronger.
In today’s noon and afternoon, the Storm No.7 will cross the Hainan Island and move to the Gulf of Tonkin, and directly affects to the provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Nam and Da Nang.
Due to impact of the storm, in the Gulf of Tonkin there will be wind force at Beaufort Scale 7, 8, then at Beaufort Scale 9, 10, the area near the centre is at Beaufort Scale 11, 12, with the wind gusting is to above Beaufort Scale 12. Sea is very rough.
From today’s afternoon, in the provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Nam-Da Nang, wind force will be at Beaufort Scale 6, 7 then be strengthen to Beaufort Scale 8, 9.In the Provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh, wind force will be from the Beaufort Scale 8, 9, and in the area near to the storm centre is at Beaufort Scale 10, 11, with the wind gusting is to above 11. The coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Nghe An need to beware of high tidal of 3,5 to 4,5m.
From today’s afternoon, provinces in the east of Tonkin and north of Central Part, and middle of Central Part, there will be rain, heavy rain and severe rain in some area. Beware of inundation in low area, or in depression area, of flash flood and landslide in the highland area.
