1. Storm damage potential: TROPICAL DEPRESSION IN EFFECT.
2. Situation Analysis of the Tropical Depression: (According to Bulletin No.ATND-4-3/DBKT, issued by the Hydro-meteorological Service of Vietnam in Hanoi at 9:30 on September 17, 2004)
At 7:00 on 17 September 2004, the centre of the tropical depression was situated at around 12.5oN to 13.5oN latitude and 116.5oE 117.5oE longitude, over the Northern-east sea area of Spratly (Truong Sa) Islands. The strongest wind force measured near the centre of the tropical depression was at Beaufort Scale 6 (39 to 61 km per hour), with the wind gusting to above Beaufort Scale 6.
Forecast:
In the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will be moving in the west direction, with a speed of 15-20 km per hour.
Due to the impact of the tropical depression, there will be rain and strong wind in the northern area of the Spratly Islands with the wind force at Beaufort Scale 6, wind gusts to above Beaufort Scale 6.
